This Goniastrea
aspera was obtained from Rommel Lumuaig in San Jose, California. Proprietor
of Ultimatefrags.com. Rommel obtained this Goniastrea from a direct transship
from Indonesia in early February 2006. The body has a pink/peach coloration
with eyes that are neon green with blood red centers and radials that intersects
the green areas in a petal pattern. The eyes are shaped like a snake, hence
the name! A very unusual growth pattern. Colonies are massive to encrusting.
Corallites are angular in shape and have thick walls. Long and short septa
generally alternate. This Limited Edition is being grown by The Coral Oasis
who is distributing and growing fragments of this coral from a starter colony
piece which we acquired from Rommel during our coral road trip to San Francisco
in March of 2006. Frank Burr is propagating this coral in a SPS propagation
system at The Coral Oasis grow out and distribution facility. The coral is
positioned at about 18 inches from a 175watt 20,000K XM Metal Halide. Water
current is moderate. Starting in March 2006 The Coral Oasis is allowed to
distribute 1 farmed fragment of this spectacular coral per month. Price is
currently $55 per small sized fragment. The Bi-monthly limited edition reservation
schedule can be found below.
